Michael O’Keeffe

Michael O’Keeffe is a veteran journalist who helped break some of the biggest stories in recent sports history. As a member of the New York Daily News’ award-winning Sports Investigative Team, he wrote extensively about the nexus between dietary supplements and performance-enhancing drugs. He was one of the lead reporters on the Daily News’ coverage of Operation Equine, an FBI investigation into the steroid trade that focused on Major League Baseball players. O’Keeffe and the I-Team also wrote extensively about the BALCO scandal that implicated sports superstars as steroid users. His coverage of sexual abuse in youth sports prompted criminal charges against two prominent New York City basketball coaches, and he also broke important stories about sexual abuse scandal at Penn State, Poly Prep in Brooklyn and in Olympic sports.
